Antique jewelry, furniture part of show
Cedarburg -- Organizers promise antique enthusiasts will be thrilled with the fresh faces and American primitive rarities at the 15th annual Cure for Cabin Fever.
Sponsored by the Cedarburg Chamber of Commerce, the juried antique show will be Saturday and Jan. 19 at the Cedarburg Community Center, next to City Hall at W63-N645 Washington Ave.
The show will feature the treasures of 22 antique collectors from throughout the Midwest.

Barb Brinkmann, of the chamber, said attendees always enjoy milling through the collections of new dealers.
Prices for items at the show will range from $1 to thousands of dollars, Brinkmann said. American Primitive style furniture will be one of the higher ticket items at the show. This style of furniture was created in the late 1700s to meet the demands of the often grueling Western frontier. It includes simply designed chairs, cupboards and benches, commonly painted black or primary colors.
Local dealers at the show include Donna and Peter Steffen of Mequon, who own American Country Farm, a bed and breakfast in Mequon decorated with antiques. Their items will include furniture, dishes, candlestick holders, old bed heaters and more. Cedarburg resident Dorothy Gallun, known for her large and diversified offerings of period jewelry, will also be at the show. Gallun, like the Steffens, is featured in antique shows throughout the Midwest. She will have on display an assortment of antiquated jewelry, including brooches, necklaces and rings.
Other dealers include Kathy Bruce from Germantown, Harry and Ann Robinson of Fox Point, Tim and Diane Egan from Boulder Junction and Richard Larson from Maple Plain, Minn.
"Although we can never guarantee the weather, we can guarantee the quality of the pieces our dealers bring to this show. Antiquers love coming to our show because they know that everything is authentic," Brinkmann said.
Each dealer must pass the scrutiny of Gordon Kirsten, who is vetting the show. Kirsten, who owns Antiques at Gordon's, in Grafton, was selected by the chamber because of his expansive knowledge of 18th-, 19th- and 20th-century antiques.
Cure for Cabin Fever will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Cedarburg Community Center. |
